I have a long lost friend who specialises in the art of the Gingerbread House. Several times she would arrive at school bearing slabs of gingerbread for her annual german class’ gingerbread house bake off.
She was more into the classic version but I did see this geo-desic dome how to guide and thought of her.

Lots of people use words without really understanding what they mean. One of us is a huge fan of Richard Dawkins - after reading many of his books I’m a firm believer in making sure that people understand the difference between these two words.
Say what you mean so you mean what you say.

8 is a container gardening kit that unites the social elements of food, ethical and moral issues about food production, and contemporary technology. The design focuses on the autumnal, cozy, and nostalgic feelings we get when we reflect upon food, combined with a contemporary sensibility.
8 takes a holistic approach to container gardening. 8 growers receive all the tools and resources—both modern and rustic—that they need to be successful gardeners. Along with gardening supplies, the kit contains an iPhone app, cookbook, dinner invitations, and and access to an exclusive social networking site. By shifting container gardening from a hobby to a lifestyle, 8 makes gardening a celebration of friends, family, and nature.

We’ve talked about our love of smores before but this really does take any function to a whole new level. Smores rock but a Smores DIY Bar is a must for any party. The one shown above is at a wedding but don’t feel the need to be constrained by matrimonially linked events.
Christmas function, hello summer, new year’s eve party - whatever the occasion, we’re sure a Smores Bar is the new now!

Sometimes - you need a giggle. At Ministry of Done 27b/6 appeals to our sense of humour and helps us keep a smile on our faces whenever we come up against senseless bureaucracy. While I’m a fan of the spider one - the “lost cat sign request” tickles the fancy of a special friend of ours.

We love the science cookies - excellent idea for a project we are working on right now. I wonder if they deliver?

Since 2007, the directors of this project have been collaborating on the development of imagination as the driving force behind this shift. The research and field work covered in this project began in January 2009. Rather than publishing results as a book or white paper, both of which are one-sided approaches to a subject that demands a conversation, an interactive site was chosen as the format.
This site doesn’t just present theories and ideas, but rather actionable solutions that can be immediately and easily implemented in service of a relevant education for American students who need to gain proficiency if not mastery of core subject areas while at the same time being prepared for the reality of future work. Imagination is a broad topic, encompassing everything the mind can conjure, so the findings in this report are focused on those that overlap with the changing world of work.
Imagination is required to envision the skills demanded by the future as the rate of transformation continues to increase. Creativity and flexibility will be required to put shared ideas into effective practice as rapidly as the current crisis demands. A truly collaborative approach to problem solving is a necessity, and a recognition of the importance not only of science and mathematics, but of creativity, art and music to amplify learning. Einstein credits some of his greatest breakthroughs in insight to his violin breaks, which connected different parts of his brain in new ways.
Is it possible to thrive in a perilous and yet exciting period of transformation?

A close friend of ours has just returned for a fleeting visit from the Americas. I have to say - a lot of our questions and conversations have been about the food.
She tried to describe it - the very yellow and plasticky cheese, the lack of coffee, the good looking, but strangely watery, fruit.
Then she moved onto the weird food combos - a lot of bacon inspiration, and clam juice - clam juice is big apparently. But she really went to town over the ‘recipes’ that kind of seem to be a whole heap of pre-made stuff mixed together of which the “Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookie n’ Oreo Fudge Brownie Bar” is a supreme example.
We just sound like little, never been anywhere, kiwis don’t we? And I guess that is exactly what we are. We have also all, every one of us, eaten some flabbergastingly good food in the USA. But you just have to give this recipe a try - in honour of pre-made cake mix, cookie dough, oreo nirvana.

Clearly I am in desperate need of a summer. I’ve become obsessed with pink drinks and the little umbrellas that go in them. So much so that I have found instructions on how to make the perfect pink parasol drink umbrella to match the campari and soda to go with the summer evening I yearn for.
Put it on that to do list - summer can’t be too far off.
