Lying is wrong. We all know that, but recently I’ve been thinking about all the things I’ve “agreed” to in order to get either of my kids to do something. My list is long and varied:
‘go back to your bed and I’ll buy you a Buzz Lightyear toy’
‘if the wind changes, your face will stay like that’
’ you’ll have to stay back a year with all the younger kids   if you don’t get that homework done;
‘yes, i’m asleep and no, you can’t convince me’
‘of course I’m listening’
