    Arohatia te Reo

Nga Uri a Maui tumuaki Kororia Matahiki says the kura celebrates te reo Maori “ia ra ia ra” (each and every day) but the awareness week was an “extra special time” because it inspired a strengthening of the national identity, with people coming together to acknowledge “he taonga tuku iho” (a treasure handed down).

From the Gisbourne Herald  ‘Cherish the language’  Thursday, July 19, 2012 • Alice Te Puni

We think this quote says it all and are big fans of having this ‘special week’ to remind us about the importance of valuing our heritage, practising, being brave and how much fun learning and speaking more than one language is!
